New and updated website.

My website Homegrowndesigns.org has been updated and completely changed. I've added links and made the whole thing easier to navigate. Take a look then let me know what you think.

New rifle and ammo

I recently purchased a new rifle (Polish Tantal.) It is very nice even if I haven't had the chance to shoot it much yet. A new rifle needs lots of ammo so I got it some. 2160 rounds to be exact. It is surplus military ammo from either Bulgaria or Russia. I am pretty sure it is from Bulgaria but I'm not sure. I don't really feel like researching or even doing a simple Google search to try and find out. It shoots fine and that's all I care about. My wife was a little upset when I opened the box though. She doesn't understand why I would want to spend $250 on a "dirty wooden crate." When I explained to her that it was an imported dirty crate she was more understanding. She is awesome!!!!

Jerky

We made beef jerky a week ago. My wife took several pictures of the whole process but I don't have them right now. I only have 2 pictures of the finished product. It tasted very good. I think we will use a different type of meat next time. There was too much fat in the flank steak that we used. Other than that it was fun and easy to make. I'll post more pictures later.

New backpacking stove

I got a new backpacking stove a couple of weekends ago. I haven't gotten to actually use it on a trip yet but I did play with it some. It is a MSR Whisperlite International. It will burn several different fuels. In my limited experience with it so far it is quite nice. It gets very hot and will boil water rather quickly. I have tried it with MSR Superfuel (white gas) and kerosene. it worked great with both of them.

Chili bowls

We made Chili again. This time we decided to make bread bowls. They were pretty good. Easy to make and clean up was a breeze.... You just eat the bowl.

My wife is terribly creative and she is involved in a 365 photo project. For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about I'll explain. She takes a photo of herself every day for a year. 365 days = 365 photos. Check them out below.

Photos

Here are some more photos from our trip to Asheville, NC. Just click on the screen and drag to the side to see more. You can also select individual photos to enlarge. Tell me what you think. It's something new I'm trying out and so far it is frustrating, but neat.

More clouds

Well this is getting ridiculous. How many cloud pictures can one person post before it becomes a problem? I think I'm getting close to finding out. But in all seriousness this is a crazy pretty sky. I wish I could take these pictures with one of my nice cameras so you could better see what I am seeing. Unfortunately I only have quick access to my phone. Maybe one day I'll be able to sit around and take cloud pics all day.

Where is all the gas?

I must have gone to at least 10 gas stations today trying to get gas for the lawn mower and they were out. I guess I need to get some goats.

2008 AAC Silencer Shoot

A buddy and I went to the 2008 AAC Silencer Shoot today. We had a lot of fun and spent a lot of money. Hopefully in the next couple of months I will get the toys that I bought. I can't wait. Here are some pictures of the event. They sort of suck but I forgot my camera and had to use my Blackberry.

This is an overview of the event.

One of the amazing rifles on the firing line.

Some more awesome rifles.

Two of the preproduction Bushmaster ACRs (Magpul Masada)

This is Major Malfunction's Minigun. WOW just WOW.

A few rifles at the Polite Society Inc. tent. They got some money from me today.

Close up of a couple of AAC cans.

Another picture of Major Malfunction's booth.
